ABET Regrets Loss of Former Executive Director David Reyes-Guerra

ABET regrets to announce the loss of esteemed colleague and former ABET Executive Director, Dr. David Richard Reyes-Guerra, who died on Saturday, August 20, 2011, in El Salvador. Dr. Reyes-Guerra was ABET's first Executive Director and served in that capacity from 1973 to 1993.

ABET Regrets Loss of Board Member Robert M. Laurenson

An esteemed member of the ABET community, Robert M. Laurenson, III, P.E., lost his battle with cancer on Thursday, June 9, 2011. At the time of his death, Mr. Laurenson was a Representative Director from the American Society of Mechanical Engineers (ASME) on the ABET Board of Directors.
Charles W. Hickman Joins ABET Staff

ABET announced today that Charles W. Hickman will join the ABET headquarters staff as Senior Director of Society Relations, effective June 20, 2011. In this position, Hickman will be the primary point of contact for ABET's society representatives, managing the relationship between ABET and its member societies.

Joseph L. Sussman, Ph.D., will become the Managing Director for Accreditation, effective May 2, 2011. In this position, Dr. Sussman will lead ABET's accreditation operations, collaborating with senior leadership to design accreditation policies and processes on a global scale, and serve as the principal liaison to academic institutions, accrediting agencies, and the volunteer leadership.
