Program Assessment Workshops


Develop your program assessment skills with ABET's series of one-day workshops. Participants will broaden their understanding of the continuous improvement of student learning through the design of assessment processes, development of measurable learning outcomes, and application of data collection and data reporting methods.

Workshops are facilitated by highly experienced faculty with wide-ranging experience in assessment and evaluation.

Fundamentals of Program Assessment

This one-day workshop is for those who are new to program assessment. The interactive sessions focus on designing program educational objectives, making student outcomes measurable, creating rubrics, and analyzing assessment data.

The workshop focuses primarily on ABET Criterion 2: Program Educational Objectives, Criterion 3: Student Outcomes and Criterion 4: Continuous Improvement.

New! Advanced Program Assessment

This fall, ABET will introduce the Advanced Program Assessment Workshop. This workshop is for those who have already attended Fundamentals of Program Assessment or have several years of experience in program assessment. The interactive sessions enable participants to evaluate the validity and reliability of their assessment methods and tools, overcome faculty resistance, and make data-driven, evidence-based decisions for continuous improvement.

Accredited Programs at HBCUs

Howard University was the first historically black college or university to have ABET-accredited programs. ABET's predecessor, the Engineers' Council for Professional Development, accredited three engineering programs there in 1937.
