David M. Woodall, Ph.D., P.E.
Baltimore, MD - An esteemed member of the ABET community, David M. Woodall, Ph.D., P.E., died suddenly of an apparent heart attack on September 3, 2012. At the time of his death, Woodall was serving his first term as a member of ABET's Applied Science Accreditation Commission (ASAC), representing the American Nuclear Society (ANS).
Woodall's involvement with ABET spanned more than two decades. He was a member of Engineering Accreditation Commission (EAC) from 1990 until 1995 and served as the Representative Director from ANS to the ABET Board of Director for two terms, from 1997 through 2003. Over the past 15, Woodall volunteered periodically to be an ANS alternate member on the Technology Accreditation Commission (now the Engineering Technology Accreditation Commission), and he served as a nuclear engineering program evaluator for that commission as recently as the 2011-12 accreditation cycle.
Woodall was an accomplished physicist, engineer, and educational administrator, and was serving as the President of Lake Washington Institute of Technology in Kirkland, Wash., at the time of his death.
