When important changes are made to the Accreditation Criteria or the Accreditation Policy and Procedure Manual (APPM) an Accreditation Alert is sent to our constituents to make them aware. Below are past alerts.

Proposed Revisions to EAC Criteria 3 and 5 Released for Public Comment

Following the Fall 2015 Board Meeting, we are releasing the Engineering Criteria changes for public review and comment.

The Engineering Accreditation Commission (EAC) leadership presented these changes to the Engineering Area Delegation and they were approved at first reading. We encourage you to provide your feedback and share this information with any interested parties.

Remember, June 15, 2016 is the deadline to submit your comments. We welcome your input and hope to receive a great deal of valuable insight.

Update: Deadline extended to June 30, 2016

Based on feedback received and realizing the importance to engage as many perspectives as possible, the EAC has agreed to extend the deadline for public comment. You now have until June 30, 2016 to submit your input using the Feedback Survey link.

We would like to emphasize that this will not be your only opportunity to be heard. ABET senior staff and leadership will be presenting at several society events, department heads workshops, and other selected professional venues over the coming months.

Engineering Accreditation Commission: Proposed Revisions to Criteria 3 and 5

  • On July 16, 2015, the Engineering Accreditation Commission (EAC) Criteria Committee recommended selected changes to the November 2014 criteria proposal. These proposed changes were subsequently approved by the ABET Engineering Accreditation Commission. Now, this work will be sent to the ABET Board of Delegates to perform the first reading in October. If approved, the proposed changes will be released for public review and comment. They will be available on this website after the October Meeting.
  • If you have any general comments regarding the prior proposal, please provide them in this form.

 

Accreditation Criteria, Policy and Procedure Changes for the 2014-2015 Review Cycle and Forward

  • Effective beginning with 2014-15 reviews
  • On October 26, 2013 the ABET Board of Directors approved on second reading the following modification to the 2014-15 Accreditation Policy and Procedure Manual Section II.A.6. and II.A.7.Public Release of Accreditation Information by the Institution/Program.
  • APPM changes are applicable to all commissions
