REQUESTING INITIAL ACCREDITATION
A Readiness Review is required from all programs seeking initial accreditation if the institution has no currently ABET-accredited programs in the same commission – Applied Science, Computing, Engineering, or Engineering Technology.
The annual deadline for Readiness Reviews is November 1. If you have programs in the current 2017-18 Readiness Review Cycle, you will be provided with login information and RFE instructions in late January, following results of your Readiness Review being released. Questions regarding status or RFE submission for your Readiness Review programs should be directed to ReadinessReview@abet.org.
If you are requesting an initial accreditation of a program and you already have accredited programs in the same commission and it is your general review cycle you can add them to your current RFE submission through your myABET account.
Programs that are renewing an existing accreditation must submit a Request for Evaluation (RFE) using our online RFE application. Your program will need to submit an RFE for any general/comprehensive visits, interim visits, or interim reports.
There is no requirement to send a printed copy of the RFE to ABET Headquarters. However, you must still mail to ABET Headquarters an official transcript for one graduate from the most recent graduating class for each program requesting review.
If you are requesting an initial accreditation of a program and you already have accredited programs in the same commission and this is not your general review cycle, please contact firstname.lastname@example.org for further instructions..
Programs Outside the U.S.
In addition to submitting an RFE, programs outside of the U.S. must have each appropriate education authority, recognition, or accreditation agency within their country complete a Request for Approval form to be submitted with the formal Request for Evaluation.
If you have questions about the Request for Evaluation and the Request for Approval, please contact our Accreditation Department
