Baltimore, MD — ABET announced today that Dr. Ashley Ater Kranov has joined ABET's senior staff as Managing Director of Professional Services. ABET is the world leader in higher education program accreditation for applied science, computing, engineering, and technology education programs. In this position, Dr. Ater Kranov will lead ABET's professional services, collaborating closely with its senior leadership to develop and provide programs in continuous improvement education, professional development, faculty and administrator workshops, academic seminars, and meeting services on a global scale.
Dr. Ater Kranov comes to ABET from Washington State University, Pullman, WA, where she most recently held two simultaneous positions: (1) Director of Educational Innovation and Assessment in the College of Engineering and Architecture, and (2) Affiliate Assistant Professor in the School of Electrical Engineering and Computer Science.
She earned her doctoral degree at the University of Idaho in Adult and Organizational Learning. During her more than 16 years as a higher education administrator and professional educator, Dr. Ater Kranov has developed and implemented professional development programs, conducted workshops on course and program-level assessment, and designed and implemented sustainable assessment programs. Her technical paper describing the Year 1 implementation of her direct method for program-level measurement of ABET professional skills won the 2008 ASEE Best Conference Paper Award. She is also Principal Investigator on a NSF-funded validity study of her program-level method and measurement tool, across three institutions and four disciplines.
