ABET Expert Patrick Walsh Passes Away

We are saddened to hear of the passing of ABET Expert Patrick Walsh. He became a program evaluator for CSAB in 1986 and continued to be active in computing accreditation for more than 30 years. At ABET, Walsh was chair of the Computing Accreditation Commission and a member of the Accreditation Council. He also served on the ABET Finance Committee, ABET Fellows Committee and ABET Nominating Committee. A mentor to many staff and fellow ABET Experts, in 2012, Walsh became a Fellow of ABET.
After receiving his bachelor’s and master’s in mathematics from Pennsylvania State University, Walsh earned his master’s degree in computer science from Syracuse University and doctorate degree from SUNY Binghamton. He worked for IBM for 43 years and retired as a project executive in global services in 2010.
We are very grateful for the dedication and time Dr. Walsh gave to ABET and the computing profession, and he will be greatly missed. Read his obituary here.
