Monte L. Phillips, PhD, PE, Dist.M.ASCE, F.NSPE, F.NAFE

ABET Past-President

ABET Past President Monte Phillips represented the National Council of Examiners for Engineering and Surveying (NCEES) on the BOD. He has participated in the development of ABET’s Strategic Plan for the future as a member of the Strategic Planning Task Force and the Global Council.

An Emeritus Professor of Civil Engineering at the University of North Dakota, Phillips received a PhD from the University of Illinois. During a 40-year career as an educator, he served on faculties at the University of North Dakota, the University of Illinois, and Ohio Northern University, and was a design consultant and forensic engineer. He is a licensed Professional Engineer.

Phillips is a Fellow and Past President of both the National Society of Professional Engineers (NSPE) and the National Academy of Forensic Engineers (NAFE), and a Distinguished Member of the American Society of Civil Engineers (ASCE). He served on the BOD of the National Institute of Building Science and has served eighteen years on the National Board of Governors of the Order of the Engineer
