Presenter Biography

Cordes

David Cordes, Ph. D. , Professor, Department of Computer Science, University of Alabama

David Cordes is a Professor in the Department of Computer Science at the University of Alabama. He has been at Alabama since 1988, serving as Department Head in Computer Science since 1997. He has also served as Director of the Freshman Engineering Program since 2007.

Cordes' research interests include software engineering and systems, as well as educational issues associated with introductory students. His research record includes 30 grants and over 100 publications and presentations, including 24 refereed journal articles and book chapters.

Honors include, The University of Alabama College of Engineering's T. Morris Hackney Endowed Leadership Award, a twice-received Upsilon Pi Epsilon Outstanding Teaching Award, and Lily Teaching Scholar, University of Alabama. He is a Senior Member of ACM and IEEE.
