Stan Thomas is an Associate Professor and Chair of the Wake Forest University Department of Computer Science, teaching undergraduate and graduate courses in database management, artificial intelligence, and machine learning technologies.
Thomas's current research focuses upon topics at the intersection of computer science and biomedical applications of computing, including the storage and analysis of very large biological data sets and the modeling of signaling processes within the cell.
Thomas has been actively involved with computing accreditation since becoming a program evaluator in 1997 and currently serves on the CAC Executive Committee where he chairs the CAC Training Committee and represents CAC on the Accreditation Council Training Committee.
Thomas has authored publications on neural networks, database theory, cell signaling, and the role of technology in computer science education. He is a senior member of the IEEE, a member of the ACM, and a member of the Pi Mu Epsilon and Upsilon Pi Epsilon honor societies.
