Carol Richardson, Professor Emerita, Electrical, Computer and Telecommunications Engineering Technology
Carol Richardson is currently a Professor Emerita from Rochester Institute of Technology (RIT). At RIT, Carol served two years as interim Dean of the College of Applied Science and Technology, Vice Dean of the college and the Paul A. Miller Professor, and department chair of the Department of Electrical, Computer, and Telecommunications Engineering Technology.
Richardson designed and proposed the Bachelor of Science program in Telecommunications Engineering Technology, which was the first ABET-accredited program of its kind in 1993. She had a 10-year career as an engineer at Collins Radio Company and General Electric before joining RIT. Her research focused on the retention of engineering technology students.
Richardson is currently the Chair-Elect of the Engineering Technology Accreditation Commission of ABET and served as the vice president of the five professional interest councils of the American Society of Engineering Educators (ASEE) for two years. She is a past chair of the ASEE Engineering Technology Division; past program chair for the ASEE Women in Engineering Division; past chair of the executive committee for Conference on Industry and Education Collaboration; and a former director of the Engineering Technology Council. She is also a past chair of the local sections of the Institute for Electrical and Electronic Engineers, Society of Women Engineers, and the Rochester New York Engineering Society.
