Is Your Program Recognized?

Graduates of programs based in the United Kingdom and Russia: Please email ABET’s International Relations Manager to determine if the program you graduated from is recognized by the Washington Accord. Your email should include specific information to determine recognition.

All other graduates: Please answer the following questions to determine if the program you graduated from is recognized by the Washington Accord.

1. Did you graduate from a bachelor’s level engineering program on or after 1989?

  • Yes: Proceed to next question
  • No: Program not recognized by the Washington Accord. The Washington Accord was established in 1989, therefore, it applies only to students who graduated in 1989 or later.

2. Did you graduate from an engineering program based in one of the following jurisdictions: Australia, Canada, Chinese Taipei,India, Ireland, Japan, Malaysia, New Zealand, Singapore, South Africa, South Korea, Sri Lanka, Turkey, or the U.S.?

  • Yes: Proceed to next question
  • No: Program not recognized by the Washington Accord. The Washington Accord applies only to engineering programs based in the jurisdictions listed above.

3. Was your program accredited by the home signatory at the time of your graduation? Check the accreditation status:

  • No: Not recognized by the Washington Accord. The Washington Accord applies only to programs accredited by the appropriate signatory at the time of your graduation.

4. Was the signatory a full signatory of the Washington Accord at the time of your graduation? Admission dates can be found in parenthesis in this listing of signatories.

  • Yes: The program you graduated from is recognized by the Washington Accord.
  • No: The program you graduated from is not recognized by the Washington Accord. The accrediting organization must have been a full signatory to the accord at the time of your graduation.
