IDEAL provides a great
opportunity to learn best practices in assessment from both ABET's assessment
experts and colleagues at other universities. I left the institute with a
set of great ideas that I could take home and immediately begin implementing.
-Anthony Pittarese,Ph.D.,Computing,East Tennessee State University
Attending the IDEAL workshop was an eye opener for me. I have learned so much, but most importantly, I have learned that continuous improvement — and not ABET accreditation — should be the goal of our assessment efforts.
— Samer Habre, Mathematics, Lebanese American University
Everyone agrees that productivity was the main goal for the last century and quality improvement is the main goal for this century. For higher education, IDEAL does not only provide the most logical approach for achieving this goal but also prepares the needed leaders to initiate and sustain the required change.
— Mohamed El-Sayed, Mechanical Engineering, Kettering University
IDEAL is perfect training for developing strategies that align assessment activities with an institutional mission. IDEAL confirmed that assessment is a vital component to the health and success of our profession and ensures we are providing the highest quality education we can in our institutions.
— Christopher Rowe, Engineering Management, Vanderbilt University
I would like to express my sincere gratitude for the wonderful workshop we had in IDEAL. It was a good opportunity to learn new ideas about the assessment process and share different experiences from other organizations. We enjoyed four days of fruitful and knowledge enriching discussions.
— Auhood Alfaries, Ph.D., King Saud University
I have to tell you I really learned a lot of valuable information at IDEAL, and it may not only help our information systems/information technology programs, but may actually help improve the course embedded assessment model across all of my institution.
— Kathy Faggiani, Ph.D., Milwaukee School of Engineering
As a program evaluator, I found the IDEAL four-day workshop relevant and beneficial. It refreshed and updated the knowledge that I already have on outcomes-based education and the assessment methods. In addition, it added to my knowledge new concepts, mainly in constructing surveys, rubric tools, and in creating a culture of assessment.
