Summary
The Software Applications Programmer is responsible for designing, developing, implementing, updating, and maintaining the customized, multi-user information processing systems for ABET Headquarters operations.
The Software Application Programmer is part of the Information Management team and at times is required to provide some desktop, audio-visual equipment, and local area network (LAN) support and administration duties.
The Software Applications Programmer reports directly to the Information Management Director.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities
Essential duties and responsibilities include the following. Other duties may be assigned.
Developing management and data mining systems, collaborations, and work flow applications.
Be involved in the full software development life-cycle (SDLC) including:
- Discovery: Work with key stakeholders and system users to develop business requirements for new systems and enhancements to existing systems.
- Design: Design wireframes and user interfaces, printed outputs, integrations with other systems (internal and 3rd party), and SQL data modeling.
- Implementation: Code designs to requirements.
- Testing: Build comprehensive unit tests during development for long-term regression testing and assisting users during user acceptance testing.
- Maintenance: Support the users, break/fix, and enhancements to the systems. Create necessary technical and support documentation.
Provide feedback regarding hardware and/or hosting requirements to support new developments as needed.

Education and / or Experience
Two to three years of experience programming in .NET Framework 3.5+, C#, VB.Net, MS SQL 2008+, MVC 3.0+, ASP.Net, Java Script and Team Foundation Server.
Bachelor’s degree (B.S.) in computer science, computer engineering, software engineering, or information systems management from an accredited institution; or equivalent combination of education and experience.
Programming certificate is a plus.
Required Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities
Experience with:
- .NET Framework 3.5+, ASP.Net, MS Visual Studio, and C#
- HTML, jQuery/JavaScript and CSS
- MS SQL 2008+
Knowledge of:
- WCF, LinQ, Web API, MVC 3.0+, and Entity Framework
- Json, JQuery, and AJAX
- MS SQL Server, IIS 7 / 7.5
- Sharepoint, a plus.
Resourcefulness and self-motivation to learn about cutting-edge technologies.
Excellent problem-solving and analytical skills.
Ability to work as both part of a team and independently.
Good communication and interpersonal skills to work collaboratively with team members, as well as outstanding customer service skills to work collaboratively with clients.
Proficient technical writing skills to create and maintain Information Management documentation on an on-going basis.
Ability to multi-task in a fast-paced working environment.
