Danielle Duran Baron
Baltimore, MD - ABET announced today that Danielle Duran Baron, MA, will join its headquarters staff as Senior Manager of Global Communications, effective September 24, 2012. In this new position, Duran Baron will prepare executive communications, speeches, feature stories, news releases, volunteer presentation templates, and web content reflecting ABET's increasingly global presence.
"As ABET grows in both scale and geographic reach, our communications activities must become more strategic, more systematic, and more relevant to an expanded range of constituents," ABET Executive Director Michael K.J. Milligan, Ph.D., P.E., stated. "I expect Danielle Duran Baron's extensive experience working in cross-cultural settings, and in multiple languages, will be valuable to ABET as we begin to implement the global outreach plan."
At present, Duran Baron works as Senior Communications Specialist for CHF International, a Maryland-based non-governmental organization that operates programs to help low- and moderate-income communities worldwide improve their social, economic, and environmental conditions. Previously, she has worked in communications and marketing capacities for public relations firms in Maryland and in Brazil, and she served as a Sector Manager at the British Consulate in Rio de Janeiro.
Duran Baron holds a bachelor of arts in communications and international relations from Randolph-Macon Woman's College, a master of arts in journalism from New York University, and a master of business administration from the Ibmec Business School in Rio de Janeiro. A native of Brazil, she is fluent in English, Portuguese, and Spanish and conversant in French and German.
